Time For Turkey /Mini turkey concrete candle...

10/9/2017

I saw these mini pumpkin buckets last year and regretted not buying them, as when I went back they were sold out!  I have been searching for them since.  A friend found them for me in her Wal-mart and messaged me and shipped me a dozen.  wooohooo!  Again, Lisa you made my day!    I see so many possibilities with these and if I come across more, I may even insert some glass votives in the centers just like the can idea.  It has been a busy busy weekend as hubby has off work for 4 days and I have been enjoying some family time but I did squeeze in a few goodies to share this week..  I usually work on items while everyone here is sleeping.  I only have 2 more items to photograph and type and I hope to get those in this week.  I am also headed off to Lehigh Decorative painters for a Saturday seminar, then next week Monday and Tuesday classes.  Busy Busy but please continue to check in.

I also poured three more bigger buckets!

I had hubby pick me up more quikcrete and this time he bought a different brand as I thought the last batch was still gritty for my liking.   This one bag poured all 12 small buckets and the three larger buckets with a little left over.  I loveeee it and this is now the only brand I'm  going to purchase.  Very sturdy and not so gritty.  I also wanted to try not spraying the buckets this time and it worked great no sticking, so no spraying is necessary.

I wanted to make a turkey and I am also doing a larger version on one of the bigger bucket.  I may even do a female to match this one.  BTW  I am keeping this one. I love it sooo much.  I love the heavy sturdiness.  I wish the pics showed the vibrantness in the colors and the sparkle!

Once again I love making pieces functionable,  so I used a battery operated candle.  I also, still used the DecoArt- Magi-Kote on the concrete before painting it really works great!

I'll be sure and share the others as I complete them.  I would love to make these into patterns but I'm afraid to, as it was really hard coming across those buckets. I even searched and tried  to order them online  If anyone has a good source, I would love the info then maybe I could do patterns.  Many ideas!!

Have a blessing of a day!
Gobble Gobble!

Wow he's a cutie!! I can't tell by the pic, do the little pumpkins have the eyes, nose & mouth on the inside so it leaves the impression on the concrete?

Wendy my friend used to have our Walmart order something for her. Maybe you could ask them if they can get you how ever many you want.
