Meet Princess Chicklet

Once again, yes I still know it's Christmas, but as someone who creates you always have to work one season ahead.  If you walk into a craft store they always have the next season out and this is why.  I started this project with a vintage theme in mind.  I ran into a dilemma halfway thru as my mind spun with probably 15 different ways to sculpt this piece. I was seeing chick, lambs, spring, oh then I saw Americana with a flag and then winter.   If you,re a member of the OldeMoonlane Primitives group page than you know I ask them what they thought and I believe that made the decision harder for me as they all saw different things as well.  I will probably make several versions of this piece with different seasons if I have time to squeeze them in.

I just couldn't get this little chick vision I was having out of  my mind, so eventually the Chicks won out !

If you look closely you will see her dress is all sparkly.  I applied Glass glitter (It's real glass)  all over her dress using DecoArt Decou- Paige to apply!  Do you like her tiney little real eye lashes??

I found this pretty vintage bottle brush tree at target in the bins at the front of the store and now I wish I would have bought them all.  I love the gold tip accents, so I tried to follow thru with that on the tips of the flowers. Gold Metallic from DecoArt.   I used all American Acrylic DecoArt paints for this project, as I do with all of my projects.  I love the consistency and creaminess of the paints.  I often have those say they buy what's cheap well in paints you get what you pay for.  I don't want to have to add a ton of coats because the cheap paints are so watered down.  If you haven't tried the American paints give them a try you will definitely notice the difference.

It's a little hard to see from the pics but to see her dress in person I used the dark shades of pink and gradually phased them out going down the dress to kind of match the tree blending.  You can really see it on the back view.

Every Princess/Angel bunny needs a magic chick wand.  This little fella is just hatching.

I also tried a new sealer on this project.  I used the DecoArt Americana gloss spray sealer and I believe I like it better than the Poly Acrylic I was using.  I think this may be my  new sealer.  Love love!!  I found I didn't need to apply as many coats and it was quick drying.

New "Scrub A Dub " coming in 2018!

You may remember in the early Fall I did a blog post on my new "Scrub A Dub" hand soap dispenser series.  I received so many messages on those and such a great response I decided I may get a few done for maybe teaching in 2018.  No guarantees on which ones become patterns it will be determined on the most ask for.  So if you like one and want to see it in pattern form, now is your chance to let me know.  I am going to be more selective on patterns this year.  I also have so many ideas sketched out for more to add to the series so keep watch.

This "Scrub A Dub" Santa is photographed and could possible become a pattern??  We shall see.  He would make a great beginner Sculpting Santa Face class!!!!!  I will try and get it listed by the end of the year in the teaching selection page of the web-site.

Well, you just have to have a snowman as well! The great thing about snowmen you can leave them out longer in the winter months. This would also make a great class selection for any beginner.  I also have this project photographed so it could become a pattern??  We shall see!  I have big ambitions sometimes not enough time lol!

One of my goals this year was to try and have more spring related patterns as I really do not have but a few.  These would also make great beginner classes.  This little blue bird may appear through out the year as I love the birdies!

Spring Is Sprung???  Not really

Many that create know that you have to work a season or two ahead.  Although I feel like Christmas slid right by me this year.  I have so many sketches for Christmas creations I just didn't get time to do, so I may work on them through out the year.

I find myself already on spring as I am trying to create a few teaching options for those that are inquiring.  Items that don't make the teaching or pattern cut will then be listed in etsy.  I will know better once groups have selected their items for the year.

"Spring Is Sprung"  or should it be "Spring Has Sprung" ??? Yikes!   I wanted to create a piece more folk art looking as I love all things Folk art or Primitive.  My creations always have a whimsical look to them.  My husbands least favorite thing I create are bunnies lol!  He just doesn't care for the folk art look I guess??  Last year he was quite the critique but what does he know right haha!

It's really challenging when creating a piece for possible teaching classes as I have to limit how detailed I go as most projects need to be completed in a day.   Oh the ideas were spinning as I created this piece and I wanted to add more but I know I already made this piece probably a (2) day class as with larger groups we could not sculpt all the details in one day.  So it will be a (2) days sculpt/texture and start painting maybe finish class.

I love watching the birds and I always think of spring and little blue birds.

I made this little bunny girls wings all sparkly with glass glitter and she is very sparkly all over!!  I wanted to give her eye lashes as well and looking at the pictures I realized I forgot to add them.  I may add them today.  Remember this is more of a folk art looking face for a bunny not your typical looking bunny.

This is a spring piece you could leave out longer than just as a Easter piece.  I originally was going to have her holding a chick and some eggs but steered away so she was more  spring related.

I hope you like my "Spring" piece for 2018.  I have a few more birdies I am working on so stay tuned.  I also have a Christmas Cardinal I haven't finished yet .  I am hoping to get them complete soon, so stay tuned!

PS-  What makes you think of Spring?????

Have a great Friday!

Over the next few weeks I will be organizing for 2018- travel teaching and classes here at OldeMoonlane. I have so many sketches just need to find the time to get to them. I have been adding to the travel teaching section on the web-site for those that are inquiring. This morning I added a few more selections.

Please note not all classes I teach in 2018 will have pattern packets I have decided to keep some things a special projects for teaching only.

Did you know in just the short year of making pattern packets I have done over 44 packets, magazine and book projects.  I found I over extended myself slightly.  My plan starting in 2018 I will be releasing each year only a select few pattern packets, magazine projects etc. (few goodies coming in 2018) so as not to overload myself again.  Yes I'm still doing them, just slowing down a wee bit and being more selective (44 was an awlful lot for one year for one who hates typing) as I want to be able to travel teach , teach at my home base studio and just plain create for those that have been collecting from me faithfully for many years.  I think in 2018 I will finally find my balance so to speak.

This past year seems to have been a whirlwind for me and one I never dreamed of.  I've been blessed beyond measure by you all and those who have reached out to me to help me live my dream, you know who you are!!!

Blessings!
Wendy

Thank you to those who have been checking in!  I came down with a really bad virus a day after arriving home from CA.  It knocked the sails right out of me for almost two weeks.  I am now feeling better and hopefully will be back at it real soon and continue with more fun blog post.

Thanks again for all the messages and well wishes it was heartfelt!
Blessings!
