Is it a concrete pumpkin?  I think not!  Along with a great DecoArt sealer tip!!

I always like to think outside of the box.  Most would look at the plastic pumpkin buckets and only see a pumpkin.  I see so many faces, I'm going to try a moon, scarecrow, pumpkin, black cat etc.... you get the picture!  I might do the moon next.  I am thinking this will make a great class in the month August for "Witchy Weekend"  in 2018.  Now if your flying in for a class this one might not be for you as that concrete witch is heavy!!  LOL!

From This.....
The gang is all lined up.  I sprayed the inside of the bucket to keep the concrete from sticking.  Now I'm not sure you would have to do this, but I figured better safe than sorry. Remember if you buy concrete mix buy the quikcrete mortar mix to get the smoother pumpkin!  I saved cans for inserting in the centers to hold flowers later.  The sarah wrap was to place over the top.

Tip of the week:

Concrete can be very porous, Yes, I know there are all kinds of concrete sealers out there but I was in a hurry to paint and I reached for my DecoArt MagiKote (which is made for coating Styrofoam.)  I evenly applied it all over any exposed concrete areas before painting and I have to tell you it worked like a Magic!!!!!  Painting was so much easier using the MagiKote .  It helped prevent the concrete from soaking up my paint!  See always think outside of the box!!
So I sent hubby to Wal-mart over the weekend for more Pumpkin buckets  and he bought them all!  So we will be able to make lots of witches next year in 2018!!!  Did I mention I love my hubby!

So, I am heading off into the weekend for two days of teaching classes and I won't have a blog up until maybe next Tuesday .  Maybe I will share some class happening from the weekend.
Have a blessed weekend!
Wendy

Morning Wendy. How long does the mortar need to cure before you can work your magic?

Morning Shirley, It was set enough the next day to remove the plastic pumpkin part but I waited a few days to actually sculpt and paint on as I wanted it to be good and dry. I think I poured them Saturday and waited till Wed. It was ready a day before but I wasn't lol.

Oh my goodness, Wendy... these are so awesome! Cannot wait to see what you do with them next [ especially the cat].. do I also see a Turkey porch ornament in the offing?? LOL... I think [ as always] that a tutorial is in order ;-) these look like a blast to do!! Did you use apoxie sculpt for the face?? It would be weather/ temperature proof like concrete for outdoor use as well.. I wish I had a fraction of your vision & talent!!

Wendy, I love these and so want to try making a planter (with the can). Do you put the sealer inside the opening before planting? Or do you keep the plant in a pot? Just wander how it holds (paint peeling) up with moisture on the inside?
Thanks!
